The Millennium Upright Bass
I was recently asked by a player to design
an upright bass similar to the violin I built for his partner
so they could perform together with matched instruments. The
result is the Millennium Upright. I started with a fingerboard
of dense Carbon-Graphite and mated that to a neck of highly
figured Bird's-Eye Maple.
The body is a hollow tube of spun
Carbon-Graphite and all fittings are black anodized aluminum.
There is a fully adjustable endpin, removable upper treble
bout and flexible chest bout. This is the lightest and
most minimal 41" upright
on the market, yet due to the Barbera Transducer Bridge and tight
design tolerances, it delivers a warm natural upright bass tone
and remarkable playability.
